Box 514 in Greencastle no later than April 1 to be considered for this year's awards.

Scholarship History

The GHS Alumni Scholarship Fund has awarded fifty-three $500 scholarships to GHS graduates since its inception in 1995. Our long-term goal when we started the scholarship fund was to raise $100,000.  We reached this goal in 2000, thanks to the generous support of our alumni, which was helped considerably that year by a matching grant from the Eli Lilly Foundation. This fund is housed in the Putnam County Foundation, and only the interest is used for scholarships, so the fund will continue into perpetuity.  A $50 donation to the scholarship fund gives you a free year's membership to the Alumni Association, and the contribution can be made in memory of, or in honor of, anyone you choose.

We awarded another five scholarships to GHS graduates in 2006.  Recipients are eligible to re-apply for this scholarship during their undergraduate college term.  Therefore, some of our recipients have received the GHS Alumni Scholarship more than one year. At least two scholarships are given to graduating seniors each year.

Applications are considered from any GHS graduate who attended Greencastle High School for at least two years and is enrolled in an accredited college or other approved institution. Equal weight is given to the applicant’s scholarship, citizenship, and need. Application forms may be picked up at the GHS Counselor’s office or at the Putnam County Foundation. The due date for applications is April 1 of each year. Scholarship recipients are recognized at the GHS Honors and Awards Day in May.
